Obituary

Virginia Mae "Ginny" Alexander, 64, of Waverly, Iowa, died Saturday, September 25, 2004, at the Prospect Park Living Center in Estes Park, Colorado, following complications of an internal head bleed, while at her cabin in Glen Haven, Colorado.

Virginia was born on May 8, 1940, in Emerson, Nebraska, the daughter of William and Tillie (Londborg) Bonderson. Virginia attended grade school and high school in Emerson, Nebraska and then attended Midland College in Fremont, Nebraska. On April 11, 1959, Virginia was united in marriage to Ronald G. Alexander in Emerson, Nebraska. The couple made their home in North Carolina, where Ginny worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield until the couple moved to Chicago in 1960 and Ginny worked as the head secretary for the Board of American Missions, with the United Lutheran Church in America. In 1966 the couple moved to Waverly, Iowa, and Ginny worked for a short time for Redeemer Lutheran Church before going back to school and receiving her B.A. Degree from Wartburg College in 1975 and her M.A. from U.N.I in 1976. Ginny then worked as a school psychologist for Area Education Agency 7 in the Cedar Falls area from 1977 until she retired in 2002.

Virginia was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly and a member of N.A.S.P. Ginny enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading and her book clubs. In 1981, Ginny and Ron built a cabin near Glen Haven, Colorado, and would enjoy going there to relax with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Alexander of Waverly, Iowa, one son and his wife, Joel and Dawn Alexander of Salem, Oregon, one daughter and her husband, Amy and Brian Ramker of Waverly, Iowa, five grandchildren, and two sisters and their husbands, Phyllis and Colin Fong of St. Paul, Minnesota, Colleen and John Russell of Woodland Park, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, and an infant sister, Caroline.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Friday, October 1, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, with Pastor Curt Schneider officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2004 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly. Following services, Ginny's body will be cremated and burial of her cremains will take place at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Alexander family.
