Eileen was born June 24, 1922, on the family farm outside of Waverly, the daughter of Harvey and Emma (Gamn) Iserman. She was baptized June 24, 1923, at the Warren Evangelical Church, and confirmed her faith on June 9, 1944, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waverly. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1940 and received her teacher's certificate from the Iowa State Teachers College in 1941. On March 9, 1944, she was united in marriage to Wendell J. Fuerstenberg in the Warren Evangelical Church. The couple farmed together for numerous years on their farm east of Waverly. Eileen was a teacher in one of the local rural schools for two years and later was a cook at Wartburg College in Waverly until her retirement. In 1963, Wendell started the Fuerstenberg Trucking business. Eileen assisted Wendell with the trucking business as well as the duties on the farm. The couple raised ponies and saddle horses for many years and enjoyed traveling with the animals for various parades, rides, and events. Wendell and Eileen were both members of the Dairy Spot Trail Riders. Wendell passed away February 7, 1982.

A couple years after Wendell passed away Mel Cassmann entered Eileen's life. This longtime friendship involved going to auctions, traveling, and sharing duties on the acreage. The acreage was sold in 1993 and the couple then moved to Clarksville. Eileen entered the Community Nursing Home in Clarksville in 2007.
