Kent Robert "Bob" Rinnels, 50, of Waucoma, Iowa, and formerly of Waverly, Iowa, died early Sunday morning, March 7, 2010, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, following a 9 year battle with leukemia.
Bob was born on March 24, 1959, in Waverly, Iowa, the son of Jasper (Jack) and Betty (Gors) Rinnels. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. Bob graduated from the Waverly-Shell Rock High School in 1977. From 1979 until 1988 he and his brother, Nick farmed their grandmothers land located at 1771 220th Street east and north of Waverly. On January 22, 1983, Bob was united in marriage to Mildred J. Tyler at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Bob then returned to school attending Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, graduating on May 5, 1989. The couple made their home in Waucoma, where Bob was a truck driver, most recently with Agriprocessors.
In his spare time, Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, fixing things (anything mechanical). Bob had a passion for breaking and riding horses, he always said, "I can ride anything you put me on."
Those thankful for having shared in Bob's life are his loving wife, Mildred J. Rinnels of Waucoma; two sons, Robert (Sami) Rinnels of Cresco, Tyler Rinnels of Waucoma; his mother, Betty (Harry) Barkhausen of Waverly; two sisters, Natasha Barkhausen of Waverly, Jackie (Denny) Wilson of Evansdale; his maternal grandmother, Florence Gors of Waverly; and numerous extended family members. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Jasper (Jack) Rinnels; his brother, Nicholas J. (Nick) Rinnels; his maternal grandfather, Robert Gors; his paternal grandparent's, Herman and Edna Rinnels; and a nephew, Dustin Rinnels.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, with Pastor Curt Schneider officiating. Burial will be in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 10th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and for an hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.
